Normally, I don't particular rate anime/mange-based artwork. Most artsites become so saturated with it, that I tend to become rather jaded towards it, but this is one notable exception. This is much more gentle than what I've come to expect from this particular genre in art.
I had noticed the lack of hatching in this picture. In fact, I can almost see a hint of "ligne claire" (clear line) comic-strip art which is highly favoured by many French & European comic-book (bande-desinee) artists. It's good that you've done it in a way that doesn't make it look too flat.
The way you've picked out details on the areas of solid black is quite effective as well (especailly the way in which you've drawn the petals on the roses). Rather than distracting from the central figure, they actually emphasize it.
If there was anything I had to criticise, it would be the lack of shading in the character's eye. Some slight hatching would have sufficed to hint at the iris being a different colour to the rest of the eye.
I was wondering if you couolld send me a note a link to a larger version of this, i've already colored it in MS, I have a new art program Iand i'd lik eto try my hand at coloring it there
